AIADMK Thanjavur Functionaries Urge EPS to Reinduct TTV Dhinakaran

On Monday, functionaries of the AIADMK Thanjavur district unit urged party general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami to facilitate the return of AMMK chief T T V Dhinakaran to the AIADMK. The appeal was made during the party’s post-poll review meeting held in Chennai, which was organized by Palaniswami to review the AIADMK’s recent electoral performance.

According to party functionaries, reinducting Dhinakaran into the AIADMK would significantly strengthen the organization and lift the morale of the party cadre, especially in light of the recent exodus of several senior leaders.

Kumbakonam branch secretary Padma Kumaresan was among the key representatives who raised the proposal during the review session. Speaking after the meeting, Kumaresan stated that he conveyed the collective views of the party cadres regarding Dhinakaran's return. He emphasized that bringing Dhinakaran back would bolster the AIADMK's influence and strength, particularly in the delta and southern districts of Tamil Nadu.

Palaniswami's reaction to the proposal suggested a potential shift in his stance toward reuniting with Dhinakaran. In the past, the AIADMK general secretary had typically dismissed or rejected such suggestions immediately. However, during Monday's meeting, Palaniswami reportedly listened patiently to the feedback from the Thanjavur representatives.

Instead of rejecting the idea, Palaniswami responded with a smile and raised a question regarding the practical feasibility of the induction, noting that Dhinakaran is currently leading his own political outfit, the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam. Palaniswami reportedly asked, “He is the leader of another party. How is that possible?”

In response to Palaniswami's question, Kumaresan urged the general secretary to initiate formal talks with Dhinakaran. Kumaresan noted that grassroots cadres in both the AIADMK and the AMMK are in favor of such a move to unite the factions.
