Agra Suitcase Murder: Accused Couple Brought to Tambaram for Interrogation

A couple arrested in connection with the murder of a 38-year-old woman, who had been staying with them in Guduvanchery, was brought to Chennai under heavy police security on Saturday night. The Tambaram City Police are investigating the case after the victim's dismembered, headless body was discovered inside a suitcase on a train at Agra railway station earlier this month.

The accused have been identified as Manik Uddin Laskar and his wife, Bhagabati Majhi. The pair were apprehended in Assam and Manipur following investigations into the murder. After securing transit warrants from the respective local courts where the suspects were initially produced, the Tambaram City Police escorted them from Guwahati to Chennai aboard an IndiGo passenger flight, arriving at around 9:30 pm on Saturday.

Upon landing at Chennai airport, the couple was immediately transported under tight police security to the Tambaram City Police Commissionerate. Investigators have taken them in for extensive interrogation to establish the circumstances and motive surrounding the killing.

According to police records, the victim, identified as 38-year-old Hayatun Nisha, was residing with Laskar and Majhi in the Guduvanchery area before her death. The crime came to light on August 5, when railway authorities discovered a red suitcase left in a rear coach of the Tamil Nadu Express at Agra railway station. Upon inspection, officials found the dismembered body parts of the victim packed inside the bag, with the head missing.

The Tambaram City Police are continuing their investigation and questioning the accused couple to uncover further details regarding the crime and the disposal of the body.
