ADGP A Arun Transferred From DVAC To Tamil Nadu Police Academy

The transfer of senior IPS officer ADGP A Arun from his post as the director of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) to the Tamil Nadu Police Academy in Oonamancherry, Chennai, has caused a major flutter in official circles. The transfer, which comes within approximately 45 days of his appointment to the sensitive post, has led to widespread speculation and social media discussion.

According to an official press release, ADGP Arun has been shifted to the Tamil Nadu Police Academy to fill an existing vacancy for the director's position. IGP C Mageswari, who was previously working in the special investigation cell of the DVAC, has been appointed to replace him as the new director of the DVAC.

The sudden reassignment has given fresh ammunition to social media critics, who have either criticized the transfer or questioned the initial decision to appoint Arun to the high-profile vigilance post. ADGP Arun has been at the center of persistent online criticism since his tenure as the Commissioner of Police in Chennai during the DMK regime.

The online trolling against the officer did not stop even after he was transferred out of the Chennai Commissioner post by the Election Commission ahead of the Assembly elections. When the TVK government subsequently appointed him as the director of the DVAC, critics continued to target him, claiming that he was close to the DMK political party.

The transfer of ADGP Arun also follows recent allegations of information leaks within the police department. These leaks reportedly concerned crucial decisions being made by the TVK government. Following these incidents, the needle of suspicion was pointed at Arun, further fueling the controversy that culminated in his transfer to the police academy.
