Actor Paresh Ganatra Speaks On Breaking Out Of Comedy Roles In New Show

Actor Paresh Ganatra, a veteran with 28 years of experience in the Indian entertainment industry, has spoken out about his long-standing struggle with being typecast in comedic roles and how his latest project allows him to break out of that creative cycle.

Speaking in an interview on June 3, 2026, Ganatra discussed his casting in the new series 'Made in India: A Titan Story'. The show, which also stars Naseeruddin Shah and Jim Sarbh, focuses on the historical journey of how JRD Tata established the Titan brand. In the series, Naseeruddin Shah portrays JRD Tata, while Ganatra plays a non-comedic character.

Ganatra, who is widely recognized for his comic timing in popular Hindi films such as 'Aankhen', 'Welcome', and 'No Entry', as well as the television series 'Baa Bahu Baby', shared his relief at being offered a different kind of role. He explained that playing a serious character in a real-life story was the primary reason he agreed to join the project, as it allowed him to step outside his usual acting parameters.

According to the actor, working solely within a comfort zone is detrimental to artistic growth. He emphasized that actors believe in their own versatility and constantly seek opportunities to demonstrate their range to the audience.

Ganatra also addressed the industry-wide habit of pigeonholing performers into specific genres. He noted that it is very easy for creators to put actors in a box. To break these patterns, he argued, the industry needs filmmakers and showrunners who are willing to take risks and place trust in an actor's ability to handle diverse genres.

The actor expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work alongside prominent industry figures like Jim Sarbh and Naseeruddin Shah. He noted that working with such highly regarded performers provides valuable learning opportunities on set, which is something every actor desires.
