Aadhav Arjuna Questions DMK Electoral Strength at Madurantakam Rally

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam election campaign management general secretary Aadhav Arjuna questioned the DMK's ability to win elections without the support of alliance partners and Muslim voters during a campaign meeting at Madurantakam on Friday. Addressing the gathering in support of TVK candidate Maragatham Kumaravel, Arjuna criticized the ruling party for concentrating political power within a single family and limiting its allies' role in administration.
Speaking at the campaign event organized by the Secular Social Justice Victory Alliance, Arjuna challenged the DMK's standalone electoral standing. “Can the DMK win an election on its own without the votes of its alliance partners? Can it win in Chepauk without the Muslim votes and the votes of its alliance partners?” he asked the gathering.
Arjuna stated that the alliance stood for secularism, social justice, and a greater share in governance and political power. He alleged that political power in Tamil Nadu had for years remained concentrated around specific families and parties, arguing that the practice of seeking the votes of alliance partners and subsequently capping their share in power to one or two per cent should change.
Taking aim at the DMK's internal structure, Arjuna said that while the party frequently spoke about ideology, political power remained confined within a single family. He emphasized that authority should extend across diverse communities and alliance partners rather than merely passing down from one generation of a family to another.
Arjuna claimed that TVK had secured 108 seats in the 2026 Assembly election without distributing money for votes, attributing the result to the backing of women and young voters. He added that the party's focus on clean governance involved eliminating commissions in government departments and halting the diversion of public resources.
“Only by first stopping the leakage of funds meant for government schemes can genuine development be achieved,” Arjuna said. He confirmed that the TVK-led alliance will contest the Madurantakam bypoll without distributing money to voters, seeking support strictly through public trust and the policies of alliance leaders.
