80-Year-Old Woman Murdered in T Nagar Apartment; Domestic Help, Two Others Detained

An 80-year-old woman living alone was found murdered on Friday inside her flat on Kuppusamy Street in T Nagar, Chennai. Following the discovery of the crime, the Pondy Bazaar police detained the victim's domestic help and two men in connection with the murder and recovered 12 sovereigns of gold jewellery from the three individuals.
The deceased woman was identified as Radha, who resided on the second floor of an apartment complex on Kuppusamy Street, T Nagar. She had been living alone in the flat after the death of her husband, Krishnamurthy, who was a geologist.
Radha's family members reside in different places across the country and abroad. Her eldest son lives in the United States, while her daughter, a lawyer, is based in Delhi. Her other son, Ramji, a retired pilot, stays in Besant Nagar, Chennai.
The incident came to light at around 10 a.m. on Friday morning. Ammu, aged 31, who worked as Radha's domestic help, alerted a neighbour in the complex after there was no response to her repeated knocks at the apartment door. The neighbour then immediately contacted Ramji to inform him about the situation.
Upon receiving the call, Ramji rushed to his mother's apartment in T Nagar and found the main door locked. After opening the door, he entered the premises and found his mother dead on the sofa in the living room. Radha was found with visible injuries on her face and neck, and a pillow was found lying near her body.
The Pondy Bazaar police took up the case and detained Ammu and two men in connection with the crime. Investigators recovered 12 sovereigns of gold jewellery from the arrested trio. Police then sent Radha's body to the government hospital in KK Nagar for a postmortem examination.
