32-Year-Old Electrician Hacked to Death in Red Hills, Three Arrested

A 32-year-old electrician was hacked to death in full public view near a private school at Red Hills on Wednesday morning. Police have arrested three men, including two brothers of the victim's wife, in connection with the murder, which investigators said stemmed from a family dispute over an extramarital relationship.

The victim, identified as R Rathinavel Pandian of Mondiamman Nagar, was riding his two-wheeler along VOC Nagar Street when the assailants intercepted him near the school. The attackers knocked him off his vehicle and stabbed him repeatedly with knives before fleeing the scene.

Local residents who heard Rathinavel's screams rushed to the spot and found him lying in a pool of blood. Red Hills police transported him to the Government Primary Health Centre at Padianallur, where doctors declared him brought dead. His body was subsequently sent to Government Stanley Medical College Hospital for a postmortem examination.

According to police, Rathinavel was married to Poornima and the couple had two sons. They had previously resided at Kavankarai in Puzhal. However, marital differences eventually developed between them, leading to their separation. Rathinavel later entered into a relationship with Saranya, who is the wife of Poornima's brother Saravanan.

Police stated that this dispute led to the fatal attack on Wednesday morning. Three suspects, including two brothers of Poornima, have been taken into custody as investigations continue.
