26-Year-Old History-Sheeter Murdered at Kelambakkam Cremation Ground

A 26-year-old history-sheeter was murdered by a gang in Kelambakkam on Saturday night. The victim, identified as Sahul Hameed, was a resident of Anna Nagar in Kelambakkam.
A senior official of the Tambaram Police Commissionerate said that Hameed had more than 10 criminal cases, including charges of murder and attempted murder, registered against him at the Kelambakkam and Thalambur police stations.
The incident came to light on Sunday morning when the Kelambakkam police received information regarding a dead body found at the cremation ground located behind the Matha Church in K.S.S. Nagar, Kelambakkam.
During the preliminary investigation, police officials found that Hameed had been seen consuming alcohol with a few unknown individuals at the cremation ground on Saturday night before the fatal assault.
A special police team has been formed to apprehend the suspects. Police officials stated that investigators are currently probing whether the murder was triggered by a fallout between Hameed and a rowdy from the Kolathur area of Mambakkam, with whom he had previously been associated before parting ways.
