15-Year-Old Student Electrocuted While Sleeping Near Charging Laptop in Tiruvallur

A 15-year-old school student died due to electrocution at his residence on Karkuzhali Road in Tiruvallur on Saturday after he accidentally came into contact with an electrical wire while sleeping near a charging laptop.

The deceased teenager was identified as Srinivasan, a Class XI student at a government higher secondary school located in Manavalanagar. He was the eldest son of Senthil, who works as a painter, and Kavitha.

According to the police, Srinivasan had brought a laptop belonging to his friend to his house on Saturday to play games. After playing for some time, the device's battery ran low. Srinivasan then plugged the laptop into a power outlet to charge and subsequently went to sleep nearby.

While he was asleep, Srinivasan reportedly came into direct contact with an electrical wire connected to the setup and suffered a severe electric shock.

Upon noticing what had happened, his family members, with the assistance of nearby neighbours, immediately rushed the unconscious teenager to the Government Medical College Hospital in Tiruvallur. However, examining doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival.

The Tiruvallur Town police were alerted about the incident following the boy's death. Police personnel have registered a case regarding the electrocution and have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
