13-Year-Old Schoolgirl Dies by Suicide at Pallavaram Apartment

A 13-year-old schoolgirl died by suicide at her apartment complex on Radial Road in Pallavaram on Wednesday evening. Police suspect that personal issues could be the reason behind the girl taking the extreme step.

The deceased was identified as N Kshibijham, a Class 8 student at a private school in the locality. Her father is a chartered accountant and her mother is a homemaker. She also has a 9-year-old younger sister.

According to the police, an argument is suspected to have broken out between Kshibijha and her mother on Wednesday after the girl returned home from school. Investigators believe this dispute may have triggered her decision.

Police said the girl stepped out of the house after telling her mother that she would return after placing her shoes on the shoe stand outside the residence. Shortly after, other apartment residents alerted the mother that her daughter was lying unconscious on the ground floor.

The teenager was immediately rushed to the Tambaram Government Hospital, but she died on the way.

Police have registered a case and sent the girl's body for a post-mortem examination. Officers are currently reviewing CCTV footage collected from the apartment complex to ascertain the exact sequence of events and circumstances that led to her death.
