11-Year-Old Boy Dies After Being Hit by Cricket Ball in Kancheepuram

An 11-year-old boy died on Saturday, four days after being struck on the head by a cricket ball while playing on the playground inside the Kancheepuram collectorate complex.

The victim was identified by the taluk police as Sai Modish, a Class 6 student at a local government school. The incident occurred on Wednesday, a government holiday, when the boy had gone to the ground to play cricket.

According to police officials, multiple groups were playing cricket simultaneously across different sections of the ground. During the games, a ball hit from another section struck Sai Modish directly on the head. The impact caused him to collapse immediately with critical head injuries.

Sai Modish lived with his mother, Sugirtha Lakshmi, in NGO Nagar near the collectorate. Following the incident, he was rushed to the Kancheepuram Government Hospital by ambulance for emergency medical attention.

As his condition remained critical, doctors referred him to the Chengalpattu Government Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on Saturday.

The taluk police have registered a case in connection with the fatal accident, and an investigation into the matter is currently underway.
